Jeva Griskjane is a Berlin-based photographer, filmmaker and writer. After finishing school in Riga, Berlin became her second home. She completed her bachelor's degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures and Italian Literature at the Humboldt University, Berlin. She gained practical experience in film, photography and literature industries while earning her master’s degree in Eastern European Literature and Culture Studies. She has worked for the Venice International Film Festival, the Nikolaus Geyrhalter Film Production and the Theater Biennale in Wiesbaden as a house photographer. At the German Film and Television Academy, she was involved in the process of creating various film productions as first assistant director, and supported the Berlin office of Lettre International with editorial work. She has published for art Magazin, ARTFORUM, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Der Spiegel, Theater Heute, Monopol, Weltkunst, Le Monde, Positive Magazine, Frankfurter Rundschau und Osteuropa. The themes of loss and localization are the focus of her artistic work.
